Four Continents - Chan does 3, Sui/Han do 2 quads

Chan did three quads to win 4CC again. Last time Chan won 4CC it convinced Evan Lysacek not to do them anymore. Chan beat Lysacek who did a quad and out went quads for Lysacek. But now there is a different underrotation system and value system and quads are all over the place.

Sui/Han of China did a quad throw and quad twist

Men

Chan did a flawed on here- hands down.

Trophee Eric Bompard-Chan and Song bring it

Winner Patrick Chan did three quads

Silver Medalists Nan Song also did three quads.

Bronze medalists didn't do a quad. He may have attempted a quad salchow.

Great display of quad triples from Chan and Song. With better PCS for Song this could become closer.

Rippon attempted a quad Lutz- it was downgraded worth 4 points.

Skate Canada 2011!

Patrick Chan won Skate Canada again successfully doing two quads while rotating another that he fell on. Javier Fernandez did two quad toe loops and one quad salchow. Impressive GP performance by him and the first time he did a quad in a SP. At worlds 2011 he did the toe loop and the salchow in the free skate.

Sui/Han of China did a quad twist in their free skate.

First competition where four quads were attempted. Takahashi tried the quad flip and Rippon tried the quad lutz. Brandon Mroz had his attempt ratified at a non-ISU event which has been the standard in the past.

World Figure Skating Championships 2011 Moscow

Patrick Chan of Canada newly armed with quads would shatter all records at this championships. He did two quad triples and another quad. The qaulity of his quadruple toe loops was really impressive. Two skaters Michal Brezina and Javier Fernandez did both a quad toe loop and a quad salchow. All the medalists did quads. Nearly everyone in the top 10 tried one. It was remarkbale. The combination of rule changres and trying to catch Patrick Chan was largely responsible. The rule changes made them less punitive and Chan doing them with his sky high PCS scores and excellent spins and step sequences made him the leader all season. Would this have happened under the old rules? Impossible to say. Here is the rundown of all the quads done.

Grand Prix Final China - Mens and Pairs

Patrick Chan won with a short program that had an underrotated quad toe loop but a free skate that had a well done quad toe loop.

The short program had a quad toe triple toe combo by Nobunari Oda that may have been one of the best ever done! Over two extra points on GOE which is great for that level of jump.

Sui/Han of China tried to do throw quad salchow in their free skate but she fell after rotating it. They would win Bronze.

Mens Short Program

1- Nobunari Oda - 4T+3T Base value 14.40 - Oda's score 16.69. Very very impressive!

2-Patrick Chan - 4T< BV 7.20 final score 6.06

Free Skate

1. Patrick Chan - 4T BV 10.30. Final score 11.59

2. Takahiko Kozuka 4T< underrotated so BV 7.20- his sccore 5.63

3. Nobunari Oda 4T< with fall so BV 7.20 - score with fall - all -3 in GOE and 1 deduction off final score 4.20 (so really 3.20)

6. Daisuke Takahashi tried a quad flip. Problems with the quad toe. Flip attempt was underrotated so BV was 5.30 his score was 3.50.

1. Chan
2. Oda
3. Kozuka

Pairs

In Free skate Sui Han throw quad salchow 4Sth BV 8.00 their score with fall 5.71 plus the -1 deduction so really 4.71. They would win bronze.
